Surrounded by glorious buildings that echo bygone eras, Grand Place in the heart of Brussels is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe and the perfect stage for the spectacular flower carpet. This giant floral jigsaw requires more than 12 months preparation, thousands of begonias and a hundred experienced gardeners who use their skill and enthusiasms to create the transient masterpiece in under 4 hours. It fills the city with a wonderful atmosphere and 2016 will be extra special, being the 20th anniversary of this biennial event. So join us for a midsummer break staying in the heart of Bruges and enjoy a full day in Brussels, where we include entry to the magnificent city hall so you can see the carpet from the balcony.

Itinerary
Day 1: Bruges
We travel aboard Eurostar from London to Lille and are taken by coach to our hotel in the heart of Bruges, where we enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 2: Brussels’ Flower Carpet
After your included breakfast we walk the short distance to the station and take the train to Brussels, where you have a full day at leisure. Grand Place is the bustling heart of the city and an attraction in its own right, with beautiful Gothic and baroque architecture adorned with gilded statues. This is where we find the spectacular Flower Carpet which can be viewed from the ground and we have also included entry to the city hall so you can see this floral masterpiece from the balcony. You can return to Bruges with our Tour Manager in the early evening or your train ticket is valid for a later return for anyone wanting to stay in Brussels to watch the spectacular sound and light show.

Enjoy a day at leisure in Bruges, a medieval masterpiece filled with gabled houses, majestic churches, cobbled streets and charming canals which gave the city the name the ‘Venice of the north’. Highlights include Rozenhoedkaai – one of the most photographic locations, the Belfry Tower and the buildings surrounding Berg Square. There are also various museums that underline the city’s great exports including diamonds, beer and lace (no entrances are included).
