Medieval Bruges by Eurostar

Known as the ‘Venice of the north’, Bruges is a picture perfect city entwined with cobbled streets and romantic canals. On our four day break you can travel in comfort aboard Eurostar and stay in the heart of Bruges, an area that has been a World Heritage Site since 2000. Bruges is known around the world not only for its gabled houses and majestic churches but also for its intricate lace, exquisite chocolates and fine beers! Choose from a variety of optional and included excursions for the best way to experience this splendid city, along with the chance to visit the emotive region of Flanders.
Itinerary
Day 1: London – Bruges
We travel aboard Eurostar from London to Lille and are taken by coach to our hotel in the heart of Bruges, where we enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 2: Bruges – Optional Canal Cruise
This morning you can join our Tour Manager and walk through the charming streets of Bruges, taking in the many sights and learning about the history and culture of this beautiful medieval city. A canal cruise is another way to see the sights and gives a breathtaking impression of the city, so why not join our optional boat trip (available seasonal from March – November). In the heart of the town is the Half Moon Brewery, the only active family brewery in the centre of Bruges. For a small charge you can join a tour for a behind the scenes look at the Modern Brewery Hall and the splendid Beer Museum. The remainder of the day is free for you to spend at leisure.
Day 3: Bruges – Ypres & Tyne Cot Cemetery
Enjoy a relaxing day in Bruges or join our included coach excursion to the town of Ypres, which has been the scene of numerous battles and was almost totally destroyed during the First World War. Today it is a beautiful and moving place to visit, sympathetically rebuilt to show all its splendour, including a magnificent church and cathedral. Menin Gate, which marks the starting point of one of the main roads out of the town, is perhaps the most visited Great War Memorial on the Western Front and is dedicated to the thousands of British and Commonwealth soldiers who fell in the Ypres Salient. We also stop at Hill 62 and the Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest British war cemetery in the world. Please note: Entrance to the museum at Hill 62 is not included.
Day 4: Bruges Chocolate Shop – London
Delve into the exciting world of chocolate-making with a visit to a chocolate shop in the city centre. You can watch chocolate being freshly handmade to a traditional recipe and learn about the manufacturing process. There will of course be the chance to purchase delicious treats to take home with you. In the late morning our coach takes us back to Lille where we join Eurostar for our return to London..
