Visit two of Europe’s most spectacular floral displays and enjoy the unforgettable scent and colour as millions of bulbs burst into life. For eight weeks of the year, Keukenhof Gardens opens its gates to visitors from around the world, who come to admire a picture perfect landscape filled with more than seven million flowers – it is without doubt the best place to see tulips in the Netherlands. In the neighbouring country of Belgium, the beautiful grounds surrounding Château de Grand-Bigard are also ablaze with the colour of over 1.5 million hand planted bulbs. Together with the fascinating cities of Amsterdam, Antwerp and Brussels, this is a wonderful springtime break.
Itinerary
Day 1: London – Roosendaal
We journey from London to Brussels aboard Eurostar and continue by rail to the Dutch city of Roosendaal. Our hotel is within walking distance from the station and there are plenty of restaurants in and around the town centre.

Day 2: Keukenhof Gardens & Amsterdam
Our coach collects us from our hotel after breakfast and takes us to the spectacular Keukenhof Gardens for our included visit. Follow the winding pathways through a sea of colour, which surround shimmering lakes, mature trees and wonderful works of art. There are also themed pavilions and a hedge maze, along with musical entertainment throughout the day. After our visit we head to Amsterdam, the laid back capital of the Netherlands. Built on a network of canals, this is a beautiful place to explore as you stroll alongside the water, across quaint bridges and through the streets with their grand facades. Alternatively you can join our optional canal cruise which gives a great perspective of the city. Later today we return to our hotel by rail.

Today our coach takes us to Floralia, the colourful flower show held in the grounds of Château de Grand-Bigard. Over 1.5 million bulbs have been hand planted by the castle’s gardeners under the ancient trees of the 14 hectare park that surrounds the fortress. In addition there is an exhibition of flowers in the greenhouses, where more than 10,000 flowers from various markets in Europe are brought in. In the afternoon we visit Brussels. This Belgian city is filled with international flair, from its beautiful medieval core filled with ancient buildings to its legendary chocolatiers and reputation as the capital of Europe. You can explore at leisure or join our optional excursion visiting the Atomium, a huge replica of an iron atom which has become the unmistakable symbol of Belgium. Later today we return to our hotel by rail.

We take the train to visit the nearby city of Antwerp, which boasts many attractions including the second biggest port in Europe and an array of 16th century architecture. It is also renowned for its skilled diamond cutters and cherished artist Peter Paul Rubens. In the afternoon we retrace our route to Brussels and join Eurostar for the return to London.
